Advisory Council

The American Association of Police Officers is guided by an Advisory Council comprised of law enforcement veterans and distinguished citizens. 

Chaplain David J. Fair, Ph.D.

Dr. David Fair, Ph D, is a renowned crisis intervention and stress management specialist for emergency responders. He is the director of chaplain services with the Brownwood Police Department, Texas Dept. of Public Safety’s Critical Incident Response Team, and the Texas Dept. of Health’s Critical Incident Stress Management Network, Texas National Guard Chaplain.

John Schneiter, Retired CEO and Entepreneur

John Schneiter is a longtime friend, supporter and trusted advisor of AAPO. An accomplished industrialist, John developed the metalized plastic film and machines to fabricate the first mylar balloons in 1977. He also developed the bulk plastic package for catsup first used by Ray Kroc in the McDonalds stores and later by the rest of the fast food industry in 1976. John also developed the film and the plastic liners and spigot connector used inside boxed wines first introduced into Australia in 1975 and 2 years later in the United States. An Air Force veteran of WWII, John loves flying, reading, and above all, his family.

Special Agent Dennis Haley, FLORIDA DEPARTMENT of LAW ENFORCEMENT

A distinguished homicide investigator, Dennis Haley is a Special Agent with the Florida Department of law Enforcement. Dennis was a police officer with the Danville Police Department (IL) from 1971 until 1985.

Dennis joined the AAPO Senior Advisory Council in 2000 and brought with him years of law enforcement experience. Dennis worked with the late co-founder of AAPO, Robert LeConte, at the Danville, Illinois Police Department where they were both young officers working on the Criminal Investigation Team.

Dennis was assigned to West Florida and the Florida Keys in 1985. “During that time,” Haley recalls, “I worked mainly narcotic related homicides, some involving the Medellin Cartel and the Cali Cartel.”

OFFICER Suzanne D'AmbrosE, RETIRED

A veteran officer, (nearly 10 years with the Belmar Police Department in New Jersey), Suzanne D’Ambrose is also a gifted law enforcement instructor for the Monmouth County Voc-Tech School. A native of New Jersey, D’Ambrose career has been the realization of her lifelong dream: to protect and educate her beloved community. D’Ambrose served on the AAPO’s Junior Police Advisory Council for twelve years before being named to the America Association of Police Officers Senior Advisory Council.

“I enjoy being on the AAPO Sr. Advisory Council because we are reaching out to police departments across the United States,” Suzanne stated. “I see it as an honor to be able to help put together materials that departments can use to teach youngsters and inspire them to become involved in law enforcement.”

Federal officer Greg O'Hara

A Federal Officer assigned to the US Treasury Dept., O’Hara has years of experience in Anti-Terrorism, Corrections and Military Police. An ex-Marine, O’Hara is a member of several professional intelligence organizations, giving him unique insight into the tactics of terrorists.

Curt Schwake, Lt. Col., USAFR

Lt. Curt Schwake received his Juris Doctorate from Baylor Law School and brings years of experience as general counsel and advisor to various governing boards on all aspects of business law. He has represented Fortune 50 clients such as GE, Kelly Moore Paint Co. and the State of Texas, all while concurrently serving in the U.S. Air Force.
